Thread: Question on motor starting requirement.

  1. Question on motor starting requirement.

Hi, I have one question on motor starting requriements. My client specification states 3 consecutive starts @ 80% voltate with load inertia according to IEC 60034-12. However our voltage variation is only 400V +-10%. I believe the voltage will not drip as much as to 80%.
Does this requirement means a normal operation of motor and pump with 80% voltage or means just a start?
Actually LRT of my motor can cover the required starting torque of pump with 80% voltage. However FLT is a problem. I cannot cover the required torque of pump at the rated operating condition.
In this case shall I change motors to higher rating?

    Please advise me. Thanks.

    Take care

the voltage drop is during the starting period, caused by the motor starting current that equal about seven time the nominal current of the motor.
