Thread: HYSYS 3.2 vs CHEMCAD vs SimSci PRO II

  1. HYSYS 3.2 vs CHEMCAD vs SimSci PRO II

I need to learn how to use simulation software within 1 month (full time) to do my final college project about gas processing, specifically a Dew Point Plant - DDP. The project subject is to simulate a chiller to refill the propane refrigeration system. I'll have to simulate a Stabilization Tower with a Reboiler, a Compressor (already in process), an extra Chiller to recuperate propane and a Biphasic Separator. I just want to do some few simple analyses like: basically mass balance. Possibly energy balance and economics as secondary objectives.

I found out 3 most common software’s.: HYSYS 3.2 vs CHEMCAD vs SimSci PRO II.

I found on the net the following training material available:
HYSYS 3.2 : a lot of manuals and examples.
    CHEMCAD: few manuals and examples.
SimSci PRO II: 1 manual and no examples.

I would like to know under my situation (1 month and gas processing) what would be the easier/quicker to learn, use, simulate.....

Do you have some experience on the software’s mentioned? Any sugestion?

Does your college provide any simulation software?
Do they allow to use pirated software?

  5. softwares

They don't provide any software, but I already have DESIGN PRO II, WINSIM, CHEMCAD, HYSYS. Which dou you recomend to I start to learn? The easier/quiker?

Of the lot, CHEMCAD is the easiest to use.
Make sure that the software you use is legal.

  7. Lightbulb All of them are alike

I think that all of the simulation packages are alike in their use , so if you knew how to use one of them , then you will learn the differences between them easily.

for ur purpose i think hysys will perfectly fit bec. its tut. contains a gas processing plant (steady state and dynamics)

finally , i advise you to look at different softwares after learning hysys

    hysys is better

I would suggest you go hysys. It is very comprehensive.

Please i will be glad if you can share with me the hysys software you have thru my email: chukkyslexo@yahoo.com. The one i have does not install. Or give me the link to obtain it. Am honestly in need of it. Thanks

  10. I would suggest Hysis too. Its the best process simulator I have ever worked with. Chemcad maybe the simplest, but not the most powerful and thats a pity, because I now use Aspen Plus in my current job and I think its the worse process simulator I have ever worked with. Everything is so damn archaic and user unfriendly.

  11. The best simulator for your purpose:
Aspen Hysys v7 or Hysys 3.2 (new and old versions)

  12. My friend use all three simulator and then review all their outputs and compare, after all you chose the best values acording to your requirements. However, PRO/II is more used for this process.

I am learnig about these simulations if you want, we can to talk by chat, add me: ajcp_26@hotmail.com
