    Please help me regarding the following queries:

    1. Is it necessary to radiograph joint welds in piping carrying water?

    2. Which code/ standard may be referred in this case?

    Hello Kronnied!

    1. For this you should consult your contract. Normally all radiography works are done before the equipment is under load. But is possible to radiograph it. You should calculate the exposure time considering the volume of water inside the pipe transforming it into steel thickness. One way is through material density. (example: water density is approximately is according to wikipedia: 1000 kg/m3 and the steel density is: 7850 kg/m3).

    2. In your contract should be referred this also. But I think you can use some API or AWWA code. My experience in this kind of work, API 1104 although for Gas Pipeline as an adequate acceptance criteria.
