Thread: Porperm relation

  1. Porperm relation

    Hi,

    1. Why porosity does not guarantee permeability? Highly porous rocks have very low permeability?
    2. Secondly, what is purpose of saturation height modelling, why we do this?

    pls. explain, thanks.

i wish a petrophysicist or reservoir geologist will answer you
i may have an answer but let's wait answer of an expert
but ... what do you mean by " saturation height " , do you mean the hydrocarbon column ? or some thing else ?

    Re: Porperm relation

    1. In my opinion, that's due to the fact that porosity and permeability don't depend on exactly the same parameters; specifically, while porosity is independent of grain size, permeability is highly controlled by this parameter (directly affecting pore throat size).
    2. It's needed to initialize rock saturations based on capillary-gravity equilibrium.
