  1. Quick question

    Hi there,

This is a really daft question, but I just need to check something with some of you:

I know that STOIIP (m3) is calculated by Vb*phi*(1-Sw)/Boi. If someone asks me to calculate Vb*phi*(1-Sw) without the division by Boi and also just Vb*phi, what am I getting? OIP, as is in the ground prior to production and total pore volume?

    Thanks.

You will get pore volume in reservoir conditions rm
    But Vbulk*Ntg*Poro

So Vb*poro*(1-Sw) is giving me pore-volume in reservoir conditions? I thought Vb*poro was giving me my pore volume?

Sorry if I'm not understanding correctly, just want to me sure what it is I'm looking at.

    Thankyou.

    Re: Quick question

"Vb*phi*(1-Sw) " this is the Below ground volume (Reservoir Barrels , RB). We have calculated what is the SPACE which can be taken up by gas or oil.

If I divide this volume by Boi (RB/STB) then I am obtaining the SURFACE volume (STB) equivalent this oil (in RB) will have when brought up to surface.

There is no such thing as a stupid question except stupid people who are unwilling to say they don't know.

Thankyou Shakespear. Just good to get some clarity now instead of making a mistake

    Many thanks.
