Regarding to the fluid flow hydraulic, A velocity criteria is a must.

Generally, for the two phase& liquid phase, erosion velocity is the main concern, through your design you have to avoide exceeding the erosion velocity

For gas flow you have to avoide the a critical velocity which reflect on noise.
