Thread: Rock Quality Index (RQI)

  1. Rock Quality Index (RQI)

    All,
I have a couple of questions.

    1. Should we determine RQI only in reservoir (clean) zones or non-reservoir zones too?
    2. Should we use Core permeability and Phi? What if we have K and Phi SCAL regressions models, can we use them?
    3. How to determine the cummulative normalised RQI?

Many thanks, look forward to hearing.

    1. If it is non-reservoir, it is usually irrelevant, and I'd suggest as a first approach simply netting it out to speed up the simulation
    2. As long as you are consistent, use whatever you like. What you want to avoid though is (for example) fitting SCAL regressions to klinkenburg corrected air perms, and then applying those same regression relationships to overburden corrected effective perm to hydrocarbon at residual water saturations.
    3. Have never had to, not even sure what you would be trying to achieve with this.
