  1. Pump elevation

    Dear All,
can anybody tell me how to get the approximate elevation of pump suction & discharge nozzle if only p & id
    is available ?
    Thanks in advance

Pump elevation can not be estimated from P&ID.
I don't know for what reason you need that information but
    From Process point of view,
Generally we assume pump center @ 0.5 m / 0.75 m if there is no information available (for hydraulic calculation purpose).
but actually it depends on the size of pump + base plate height which will be provided by vendor.

    Regards,

  5. Hi !
If you have the pump capacity data, you can estimate the elevation of the pump centerline from attached figure that from JGC.

  6. P& ID can never help. Obtain the pump curve with NPSH info. consider maximum NPSH required. You should know your liquid density. Calculate the required height. This will be your minimum minus elevation from the tank. is the reservoir tank pressurized? If it is, all the story changes.

  7. Hi

PNID wont have that information.During basic engineering for hydraulics purpose it is taken as 2.5 ft or 3.0 ft generally based on the capacity of the pump.Actual data on base plate height would be given by the pump vendor.
