I am sure one can not calculate floating roof tank with COADE Tank Software. You need some kind of proprietory design and drawing. Hope and wait for someone to here.

Yes , the floating roof is a structural part;
It is covered by a special appendix (H) in API -650 ? main points =
ensure floatation with two punctured adjacent compartiments;
Ensure floataion with a liquid specific gravity of 0.7
roof to be able to withstand 250 mm of water from raining for instance;

you can not calculate the floating roof alone and as such. the reason were given above by the participants
But the tank = yes, simply calculate as an OPEN tank
but for the seismic , you have to add an estimate of the roof weight
the "Guide to Storage Tank and Equipment" contain a not finished floating roof calculation... and this book contain many many "mistake", but that book is a very very good start point for solution your problem (I made my floating roof design example with that book, but this book contain many many uncorrect equtation)
yes...so... I forget most of all, but I find some...
one of these little and horrible mistakes (yes, horrible, because without these mistake, this book is the best for Tank designink, and very good guidence for engineering thinking, just a little bit caotic structures...):
Eq.3.39 Beta (the bending constans) not correct...(pls, look that in Roark Formulas for Stress and Strain, Cylindrical Shell Formulas, or Maan H. Jawad - Design of Plate & Shell structures or other book for Elasticity)
and other:
6.4 Internal floating roofs calculation...this is not finished calculation, and if you read the reference documantation (Roark, Stres an....), you will be surprised, because the calculation constans is not correct...)
etc etc...
