    Variogram Analysis

    Hello All,

    Could any one please help me to get more information and/or books related to variogram and geostatistics analysis also i need to know if there is any software to make the variogram analysis

    thank you very much

    best regards

    hello sadat666

    which software you mean ??

  6. Hello Sami22

    If you want compute 2D variogran you can use variowin if 3D yo can use gslib both are free software. The very good book for undertand variogram is Introduction to applied geoestatistics by M. Srivastava. Other sofwares Wingslib, GOCAD and Petrel.

    good luck

    Thank you very much Viloriarj for this information, can you please tell me what is the difference between 2D and 3D variogram

    Thanks

  9. Hi Sami22

    Depent of your data. For exemple if you have thikness, netsand, top, botton, average of porosity, or permeability of the resevoir the variogram have to compute in 2D, the data is X,Y and the value of properties (thikness, netsand, others). Now if you have porosity, permeability in a geological unit you have compute the 3D variogram. You data have X, Y at the location well, Z each 1 meter or feet

  10. Dear Collegues,
    I'm trying to build variogram model for existing lithoface grid using gam program from GSLIB distribution. I define indicator semivariogram as variogram output type:
    Code:
                      Parameters for GAM
                      ******************

    START OF PARAMETERS:
    18_face-region.txt    -file with data
    1 1 - number of variables, column numbers
    -100 100              -   trimming limits
    gam.out               -file for variogram output
    1                     -grid or realization number
    100  50    100.0      -nx, xmn, xsiz
    200  50    100.0      -ny, ymn, ysiz
     1   0.25  0.5        -nz, zmn, zsiz
    2 50 -number of directions, number of lags
     1  0  0              -ixd(1),iyd(1),izd(1)
     0  1  0              -ixd(2),iyd(2),izd(2)
    1                     -standardize sill? (0=no, 1=yes)
    1                     -number of variograms
    1 1 10 2.5 -tail variable, head variable, variogram type

    type 1 = traditional semivariogram
         2 = traditional cross semivariogram
         3 = covariance
         4 = correlogram
         5 = general relative semivariogram
         6 = pairwise relative semivariogram
         7 = semivariogram of logarithms
         8 = semimadogram
         9 = indicator semivariogram - continuous
         10= indicator semivariogram - categorical
    When I run the program I've got zeroed columns in output
    Code:
    Indicator 1/2 Variogram tail:Indicator  1 head:Indicator  1  direction  1
       1      100.000      0.00000    19800        0.00000        0.00000

    ...
    Can you tell me what's wrong?

    ... ah, I see I give the wrong number for cutoff parameter in variogram type definition.

    but for me the range of variogramm is the range of your geobodies normally i take double distance between the wells
