Good day!
A sandstone reservoir drilled and produced water free oil (100% oil & no water).
The Avg water saturation for the tested interval is 53%* what is rest 47%?
If reservoir is flowing only oil* then shouldn't water saturation be around 0%? why it is 53%?

Water saturation icludes moveable and irreducible (Not moveable) water that varies with wattabillity and cappilary caracteristics of the rock (Sst in your case)* see the scal study if the rock is water wattable* the irreducible water is also inversely proportional with the pore throat size*

Thanks* so what I understand from your reply is that "all the 53% water is bound (capillary or clay bound) and the reservoir is at irreducible water saturation"?

In your case* since no water was produced at Sw=53% then the irreducible water saturation Swir is equal or higher than 53%* so that at Sw=53% the water relative permeability is 0 (krw = 0 at Sw <= Swir). PS #1: make sure your value of Sw is accurate. PS #2: this website is now including an asterisk (*) without me having typed it in. That (*) means nothing special* it is just some issue with this website.
