Hi Friends
I hope someone can help me with a problem.
I'm doing inspections on a petrol depot for new inlet and outlet pipe from the tank to the manifold about 300m away now the manufacturers is using ASTM A312 316L material the design code is ASME B31.4. The line is running on a predetermined path however on one specific bend the curve is not a full 90 degrees so the manufacturers cut back on the 90 degrees elbow making it about 80 degrees so my question is, is it allowed to cut back on the stainless steel bend and will it affect the flow if so should there be additional NDT done on the bevel before welding.
Can someone please tell me if it is stated in the design code as I can't seem to find it anywhere.
The design engineer has also noted the cutback and has raised a concern however he is relying on me to give a justifying answer.
