Thread: What effect to distillation tower when preheat train temperature is increase

  1. What effect to distillation tower when preheat train temperature is increase

    Hi

Can anyone please advice on what effect it will be in the crude inlet temperature is increase from 35 deg⁰C to 60 deg⁰C. as in the picture.

Will in have better desalting, better preflash etc? The crude goes through a series of preheat, desalter, furnace, preflash then fractionation tower.

Will we see a better distillation across the distillation tower?

    Thank in advance

    Dear Limos,

have you check the temp instrument?
If yes maybe crude from ship have higher temperature or if your tank have coil heater which steam supply was more than before.

Desalter have optimum temperature around 130 deg C and dont excess 150 deg C unless the salt will tend to hydrolize.

Increase in coil inlet temperature means you will save money for fuel gas.

For better distillation across the main fractionator not only depend on feed temperature but also tray condition, pump around system etc
