  1. Pressure control valve

    Hi guys!
    I have a problem: I need to control the pressure of a gas stream, using a control valve with variable set point. The max. pressure range is 80 to 20 bar. I think I do not have a valve to control this, but I must to control!
    I do not know what to do... please give me some help!

  3. I'm thinking about using two or more valves with different ranges (80 to 50, 50 to 30 bar) in parallel and use each one according the process requirement. Would it be the best way to solve this problem?

    Dear Mr. Rafael,
    You should see the available CV rangability for your application. May you can use single CV. Process description can help to decide this.

    The problem is exactly the CV. The pressure control range is too high and the flow rate is too low (100 kg/h), because it is a pilot plant.
    I think this valve does not exist.


    I start to think I will must change the process...

    Rafael:
    There is a widely used control valve, the fisher 630 big joe pressure reducing regulator. Check if it adecuate to your process.

    Hi,

    I did work (maintenance, adjustment/tuning) with the Francel valves model MP** ( this is a brand name of Emerson) for two gas pressure reduction stations, one HP (out let pressure at high 31.5 barg) and one LP (outlet pressure at 6.5 barg). The upstream source of these two sHP & LP stations are the same, and at approx. 40 barg. The configuration of these station is redundant, each has one main and one backup line. The main line pressure setting range is in the between that of the back up line. If the outlet pressure is out of the main line range, then the main line is skipped out (shut off) then the back up line comes in automatically and bumplessly. All the PCVs are pilot/mechanical control fully, not with any smart/electronic instrument. To gain such above configuration, you should have additional slam shut valve which provide you the ability to set the shutoff settings (model OSB** of Francel as well).

    They all work well, at high availabilty and reliability. It was my fun to play on those HP and LP stations. The rate is not bad (uptill 34 kg/s of natural gas). Hope to bring you some helps with this post.

    You can use "Baumann™ 51000 Series Low Flow Control Valve" or "Baumann™ 81000 Mikroseal™ Control Valve" These valves are specially designed for low CV and high pressure. See the attached brochure
