Process Simulation Engineer (how to switch over to reservoir simulation)

Hi,
I am currently working as a process simulation engineer for oil and gas sector. can i switch over to reservoir simulation with this experience. If not what are the things i have to prepare so that i am elligible for applying reservoir engineering jobs. Could any one can guide me.

Since you get no answer from anyone else I decided to write my own comments. 8 years ago I met a friend with a BS degree in Petroleum Engineering who worked as a process simulation engineer. He used to use Hysys to design facilities, flow lines, etc. That was his first job after graduation. He definitely didn't like it. He works now, 8 years later, as a company man in drilling operations. That's what he likes and that's what he does now.

You can definitely swith to reservoir simulation.

However, I'll also be honest with you. I extremely doubt that the experience you're making now as a process simulation engineer will be useful in you CV when it comes to apply for a position in reservoir engineering. I mean it won't give you any advantage to get a position as a reservoir simulation engineer. Those are two different field areas and you should start by preparing yourself now. The longer the time you work in that area, the less the expectations you have to become a reservoir simulation engineer in the near future.

By the way, what's your background? Petroleum Engineering? if so, you have more chances to make the switch that you want.

My background - Economics i spent 5 years of my life to get a degree in economics
After 5 years working in this area I sweetched to reservoir since economics become for me not entreseting
After 7 years in industry i got my PhD in production and now i can solve problems with black oil and compostional srating from siecmic and ending econimics
The key for you is you will to progress as an engineer
Once you have it the everything else you will defiantly find
