SIS means safety integration system. DCS interlock is a interlock that you put on the binary logic install on the DCS (Distributed control system). The DCS is for control one plant in hierachical level control. You can do that by a PLC (progrmable language control) but is more restritive but is more cheaper.
you can do logic for safety control like protections with a SIL level 1, 2, 3 (that measure the probability of fail). SIL 1 is a loop that use only one channel. SIL 2 wiith 2 channel for example control loops. SIL 3 used on trip logic (3 channel) or BMS (burner management of a boiler). But now exist sensors that have SIL 2 equivalence <> a 2 normal sensors. So you can implement a safety system with 1 channel with SIL 2 classification if ALL components (sensor, tranmital, Processor, output card, output component have SIL 2 classification).
