API 5CT X-52 Grade Buttress Thread

My customer is asking for X-52 Grade Coupling API 5CT.
Can we manufacture Buttress thread coupling in Grade above X-52.
If in case we manufactured can we apply API 5CT Monogram?
Please help me out as i am stuck up with this issue.

Re: API 5CT X-52 Grade Buttress Thread

    My opinion:
    1. when you want to manufacture buttress coupling by using above X-52 grade specs, i think yes you can.
as i know and encounter in my work, (im working in wellhead manufacturer), we can accept this by looking at raw material mill certificate.
my workplace has standardize minimum material specs needed before we start to machine it (this 'code' comply to API6A as wellhead stuff being strictly regulated there), AND we make sure that minimum material specs comply to API and customer order as well, like PSL, material class, or max temperature usage.

after i know the minimum constraint during material selection, then our purchaser guy will look after raw material as order required. most cases happen when we had specify our need (eg: using material AISI4130 75k), but they only can source material AISI4130 60k.... the next thing that i often did was to check that raw material mill cert. if it fit for our purpose since we know already our limitation, standard wise, and customer order wise, then we can decide can use/not.

i think same situation got into you, CMIIW.

    2. API5CT monogram: im not sure whether you can put it, but i would prefer to say NO.
its not about material specs wise (i assume X52 properties way more better that all specs in API5CT, but re check with API5L),
if your customer specify material like 'X-52' in your order, i absolutely say NO to put API monogram, since X-52 is not mention in API5CT.
but if your customer loosely specify those material (eg: X-52 likewise), i think you can put it.

my advise is re-read API5CT, does API5CT allowed material code tweak? (like your case: API5CT strictly mention specs like L80, K55, P110, etc...did they mention that material specs tweaking are allowed?)
in API6A, yes i can tweak it as long as mill cert specs way more better than minimum requirement as API mention and as minimum specs for our company standard.
