When I want to import a SURFER Grid file into an Eclipse data file I first convert the file to HDF format (and change blank values to zero). Then I use a utility called HDF browser to convert it to a text matrix that is compatibale with Eclispe.
Fotner software used to give out the HDF browswer for free, now someone else has bough the rights and sells it for $35 or so.
