Good Morning Everyone,
I have a few questions on some issues that I am dealing with. We are dealing with an API510 & API 570 inspector that is claiming all these issues are stated "In the code." I need some help either confirming these issues are true. If they are, is it a mandatory practice stated that it SHALL be done. Or are these statements false. This help will save our company months of unneeded work and money spent.
1.) Is there any instance where Section 9 of API 510 can govern the inspections of piping. I just received my API 570 certification, and am under the impression that API 570 governs the inspections of piping in all cases and API 510 governs the inspections of pressure vessels in all cases.
2.) We are inspecting a pressure vessel that has no U-1A, no historical data, and no nametag on the vessel. API 510 Section 7.7 States that if there is minimal to no documentation confirming material grade to use allowable stresses to SA-283 Grade C. Is there any instance where instead of using SA-283 Grade C for unknown materials, you can assume that the material of a vessel is SA-516 Grade 70?
3.) Is there anywhere in the code that states a specific way inspection circuits should be named? IE: MBD-1000 Inlet, ISO7001,
6-WOG-D-1001. We are being told that the code requires circuits to be named a certain way. IE: MBD-1000 A, MBD-1000 B, MBD-1000 C.
If any of these questions are correct, please let me know citing where in the code i can find these statements. It would help me out tremendously.
Thanks in advance!
