Thread: Pipeline desgn using VB

  1. Pipeline desgn using VB

    Salam alaykom,

I am doing my practice within a petroleum company, and i have to make the design and the simulation of a pipeline according to the standard API 14E using Virtual Basic, and after that i have to compare my result to the simulation given by the software PIPESIM. So, please can anyone help me to do this job?
You can find the "flowline data" attached.
    I also have two question:
    • what is the difference between WHFP and BHFP?
      • Wat is the utility of the environmental data?

    Thanks

    Hi Salam,

BHFP: Mean bottom hole flowing pressure.
    WHFP: WellHead Flowing Pressure.

If i understand as well, you are trying to use the API 14E and try to validate your results with pipesim (by slumberger).
If you want to validate or compare your model and selected correlations in your pipeline with two differents methods, The enviromental data is very important, because depending the surrounding altrough the pipeline route, for example if your pipeline is buried in sand or a particulary soil you need stablish the properties of the enviromental data, if is a aerial pipeline you need indicates the wind velocity and enviroment temperature all those parameters define the heat transfer and the temperature profile, viscosity and pressure in all the pipeline route.

I tried to run PIPESIM but i didn't yet but my company rent a pipephase for a few months and that simulator works very similar.

I hope my comments will be help you.

    Regards,

    Luis R.

    Salam
Thank you Mr. Luis for your comment, concerning the WHFP and BHFP i wanted to know the physical difference between them (not only the abreviation).
otherwise, for the environmental data, your explication wasn't too clear for me. As you can constate in the attached file, the pipeline that i am working on has a part in air and other subsea part.
Finaly, i would be so greatful if someone can help with the algorithm of the visual basic program that i have to write.

    Thanks.

    Ok,

I think the first (BHFP) is the pressure before the choke valve and the second (WHFP) is the pressure after that valve.

When I'm working with mutiphase fluid flow in pipeline from wellhead i use to WHFP, because is the pressure when the fluid (oil+gas+water) is flowing altrougth a pipeline or flowline.

About to algorithm in visual basic, I know that language and also use VBA for develelopment different tools in my task as a process engineer, If you like we can work together in a tool develope in VBA with excel if is enougth for you.

Tell me the calculation scope and the equations related to make this app tool. How time are you expected to make this? a week? a month? days?.

    Regards,

    Luis

    Salam,
THank you again Mr. Luis for being interested about my post.
Is it possible that you give me your e-mail? Mine is: djebali.ept@gmail.com
And for my work, it is expected to do it in 1 month starting from 1st of July.

    Thanks
