Thread: End scaling in Kr/Pc curves

  1. End scaling in Kr/Pc curves

Can somebody kindly describe me about end point scaling logics used in reservoir simulators? I don't know why and where we should use end scaled relative permeability curves. Does it make any change in simulation results? Is there any special condition that we have to use end scaled curves.
    Thanks

In a simple way, relative perm (kr) endpoint scaling makes easy to represent kr variations through the entire reservoir by normalizing the kr curve (or curves if you have more than one saturation region or SATNUM in Eclipse) and then assigning endpoint saturations and endpoint kr values to each gridblock in each satnum, otherwise you would need one set of kr curves for each gridblock in each satnum. Take a look at any simulation software package manual for more information on this.
