  1. Density_Neutron Crossover (Oil or Gas) ??

    Hi Friends,

How can we say that it is Oil or Gas, keeping in view the Density-Neutron Crossover?
Besides this, what else method can confirm that there is gas or oil except Density-Neutron crossover?

    Look forward to hearing.

    Thanx

    Hi,

    1. Hydrocarbon shows; (a) Gas Chromatography - Look for high methane concentration.
    (b) Oil stains on cuttings - Characterized by florescence of some sort.
Both of these will show up on a mud log. Also lookout for any kick information, like gas kicks (gas) and liquid kicks (oil).

    2. Look for segregation/contacts; neutron-density will show the biggest cross-over in gas, then smaller cross-over in oil, then overlie each other in 100% water.

  5. Thanks for reply.

Can you tell which curves (C1, C2, C3, C4, nC4 etc) confirm the presence of gas?
    Similarly which for Oil?

    Thankx
