Lightbulb need help with Log correlation, please!

    Hello,

can some one explain to me how to make the correlation between GR in open hole and cased hole and CCL for adjusting the setting depth of the packer before to perforation for testing the well. Attached logs as an example will be appreciated.

    Thanks for your help!

    Best regards!

The GR of open hole logs like DLL or Density should be taken as standard for all practical purpose. For correlation of depth. Spread the logs of Open hole on one side and logs of cased hole like CBL on other side, now see for a particular depth how much is the depth variation in the cased hole GR by matching the major peaks. Adjust the peaks of the cased hole to the peaks of the open logs. Suppose, one major peak of Open hole GR comes at 1500 m and the the same depth the peak of cased hole comes at 1502 m then there is a correction of -2m and so on.

    thank you anihita,

but which log depth do you take for as a reference for the setting depth, the cased hole, or the open hole log, if the depth lag between them is large.

    regards
