A standard is something prepared for purpose of standardization. For example TEMA a association will make a standard to protect its interest , opetimze/reduce the costs , improve lifes etc basically standardise.
Where as code is more of a regulation and can be enforced if manufacturer agrees to abide the code

  5. Standards usually show proper installation methods and procedures for good workmanship. Codes usually show proper installation methods and procedures for safety and are sometimes made into legal requirements. Of course, there is a lot of overlap between them.

standard may be to show how to design or install something

code is the same one with the standard, but prefer to safety

Hi umi and other forum members and users:

According to the official definitions of the NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION taken from the NFPA Glossary of Terms (2004)

    Standard
A document, the main text of which contains only mandatory provisions using the word "shall" to indicate requirements and which is in a form generally suitable for mandatory reference by another standard or code or for adoption into law. Nonmandatory provisions shall be located in an appendix or annex, footnote, or fineprint note and are not to be considered a part of the requirements of a standard.

    Code
A standard that is an extensive compilation of provisions covering broad subject matter or that is suitable for adoption into law independently of other codes and standards.

    Regards
    ..
