pseudo component

can anyone tell me what is a pseudo component added in hysys composition!!

pseudo component is typically used for petroleum components. These are used because you do not know what are components present in say diesel or ATF. You have to give only the boiling point and density and HYSYS converts them to pseudo components.

Just to add a few lines to venkateshs_g's response: when you have a substance which composition is unkown, you can perform lab analysis to determine properties like the ones mentioned by venkateshs_g, to create in Hysys a pseudo-component or several ones, with the aim to model the substance as accurate as possible. The more the physical and chemical properties you have, the more accurate the model. Hope this helps.
