Instrument Wiring Standards

Hello All,

I'm working on a project which involves the installation of new equipment in a refinery, some equipment from the US some from Europe, can anyone please advise if there exists guiding standards which dictate whether white or black is positive for instrument signals (via multi-paired cables etc.) The US companies use black as positive and the European companies use white as positive. If some one can let me know which are the applicable standards for both regions and can furnish me with a copy I would be grateful.
