The first indication of sand production in a well is to check the bean housing for deposits of sand. The other indication of sand production is frequent maintenance of bean. The sand erodes away the bean sizing and hence they need to be replaced. The reservoir petrophysical characteristics gives an indication of future production of sand with increase in drawdown.

In case of subsea wells, where it is a cage type chokes are used.How can we determined and confidently say that sand production has started from the wells.

hey all,

it is a good topic to talk about, sand production is one of the major problem face in oil and gas well , especially for heavy oil, where the reservoir is unconsolidated. where are a lot of indications can tell about sand. one of them rapid maintanice in short period of time, taking regulary sand samples. even some time there mentioned indications won't give us quick result, because of sand accumulation downhole. one quick way to solve sand production problem is by only controlling the drawdown pressure, by keeping it easy and stable all the time. remember always that, sometimes, the best method of sand control is to do Nothing, " if it is not broken, do not fix it" and that should also applied to oil and gas production well, so " if sand prouction will not be a problem, don't try to control sand".. that is what i can say at the monent, please tell us bring us the issue for the discussion.
