There are many factors limiting the bend radius of a pipe. Are you looking for piggability or code compliance?

  5. For process pipes the short radius bends will have R= 1D. In boiler super heaters/economisers tubes are bent even to R=0.5D to make platten surface. This of course is for small dia process piping /tubing. For large dia cross country piping/ water works piping Mr Liew has already answered.

  7. Some company use 5D Hot Bend for piggability of pipeline (e.g. API 5L). For Cold Bend you have to use 40D, For Elastic Bend some company use 500D as minimum, but normally you need to calculate this base on stresses. I f you could use Cold Bend instead of Hot Bend, its better because of costing issues.

  9. Friend,

Should you be still needing some more support than the above knowledgeable answers , I shall suggest you to read pages 48 and 49 of " Pipe line Rules of thumb Hand book ". There is a detailed calculation with a workout example . In case you have no access to that book and if you feel that further reading will help you, please revert back I will arrange for these two pages.
