    ESP temperature rising.

    Hello Guys,

Please, could somebody help to understand what is going in an ESP having its temperature continously rising since 5 months(110 to 140 degC), with a constant liquid rate.

    Thanks in advance

  3. A number of parameters could be changing over time, namely the inlet gas void fraction could be increasing thus causing lower pump efficiency, the oil properties are perhaps changing (oil viscosity going up), watercut may be also going up, pressure boosting may be changing as well. Every aspect of the ESP operating, inlet and outlet conditions and fluid properties need to be evaluated.

    Thanks for ur reply.

I will bring up some precisions, the water cut of the well has remained around 80%. And the viscosity stable too. Somenody told me the dohwnhole gauge could be erratic, but I do not agree as the BHT has changed from 58.4 to 59.1 degC. Do you have any clue?

    Regards

Can you tell if the power supplied to the ESP motor has increased? If so, that will explain a rise in temperature. In such a case, a problem with the motor or pump or both is being developing. If the motor draws more power for the ESP to lift the same fluid at the same rate, then for sure the extra power is dissipated as heat. Do you have only one bottomhole temperature gauge? Is that at the discharge or the suction of the pump?

Please, I wish I had ur e-mail address in my mailing list. Thanks for ur unvaluable input.

The Intensity and Voltage have remained almost the same (same frequency).
I think the motor is dying. We do have only gauges below the pump intake and thus no discharge pressure is monitored.

  9. Dear Mr. El Gharib

Could we share some knowledge about the ESP ? I need to understand the market ? what type of ESP you use ?

I am an oilfield expert working in middle east

Please lets communicate here and on my email reda.walid@gmail.com

    Thanks
