im installing 7.1 from a DVD onto windows 7 32bit. I already completed the SQL server part and im hung up on the aspensuite2006_LicGen.exe. A few seconds after clicking on it, a window pops up saying "aspensuite2006_LicGen.exe has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working, windows will notify you of a solution." I have another .lic file that im using instead. Do i need to run the SLM license Profiler to direct aspenplus to the license location?
I followed your directions word for word but Im getting an error when starting aspenplus that says" unable to load simulation engine. Simulation engine reports a license problem." click ok, then it says "failed to establish a connection" click ok then the control panel window says, "Sorry, Fatal licensing error for Aspen Plus. Server "Error_while_checking_out_license(AEA_Aspenplu s)" returned error "SLM Configuration Error" Server: no-net(default,SLM) returned error, the license for this product cannot be found.
    Any help would be great,
I know the .lic file works, because im running Aspen 7.1 on windows XP

  7. Ok, good news and bad news. Good news is that you don`t have a serious problem. Bad news is that you just have to keep on uninstalling/re-installing until it works. I`m saying this out of personal experience..usually the first few attempts don`t work either, I just have to keep on trying, because usually by the 4th time, it works just fine. Cheers!

Ive already done it that many times at least, I think my .lic is too old to support v7. Has anyone tried installing older versions of Aspen, like 2006, then upgrading to 7.1? I think i just need to get a aspenONE V7 license gen, if that exist yet.

  10. I'm trying to install aspen tech v7 one on windows 7 x64 and im getting this error

[link Point to another website Only the registered members can access]
i installed sql server as instructed and followed the instructions really carefully but, when trying to install aspentech from the dvd setup, i get that error relating to sql server sp2, any ideas what i should do now? i already have sql installed aaah

  11. @tgg: just make another license, then try again, because, as far as I know there is no new LicGen for v7. The old one should work..after a few runs, of course!

@pock3tace: I managed to install Aspen v7.1 on Windows 7 x64. It took me like 2 days to figure out all the errors. This is the first one you have to deal with. The problem is that the SQL Manager needs this Backward Compatibility module installed..in x86 form. And the installer of this Backward Compatibility in x86 does not run under x64 OS, hence the error. And the funny thing is, that if you install prior to this the x64 Backward Compatibility, the SQL installer won`t recognize it, it will still give you that error. So, we must trick the system somehow in allowing the x64 Backward Compatibility to be used. For this, search via Google this Backward Compatibility program, find the website and download the x64. After that find in the directories of Aspen DVD kit the 'core' folder and within it the 'SQL2k5Exprs'..now, copy the x64 variant of the Backward Compatibility in that folder, and rename it just like the original one, SQLServer2005_BC.msi, keeping this original one for backup somewhere else. Now try to run the installer again, it should work!

  12. hi red thanks for the help, did what you said and directly edited the dvd installation file by replacing that installer with x64 version, renamed

now when i try to install i get a 1158: error. just a blank box that gives me only the option to hit 'ok' and says only '1158:'

    any ideas?

  13. i think whatever happened permanently damaged the installation files, i.e. after i edited the sql file like you said. i fixed the above error by making the 4x409.ini file like the old one but got another installation error message and am just really confused

  14. Oh boy..haven`t seen that one before. I searched Google and says that this error is common when installing certain games and the OS is XP SP2..funny really..somewhere it says that is common when certain data got corrupted so it forces the installation to stop. Best guess is to start all over the installation of Aspen..sorry!
