Hi Bilal,
Many thanks for your help, I am in the process of doing an economic analysis, I was wondering if you can guide me any good research papers or any other materials related to this topic (economic analysis), since you are a senior member, I am sure you can guide me in the right direction, I did had a go on google and other search engines, but it was not useful.

There are two ways by which you can get your desired operation
1- After certain time step, add WCONINJE or WCONINJ to start injection and then after required time (time step) again add WCONINJE or WCONINJ to stop the injection.
2- Using ACTION facility in ECLIPSE, you set some limit on rate, pressure or time, after which injection starts or paused/stopped automatically when that specified limit is reached. The action can be repeated finite as well as infinite times in the life of the subject well. Chapter on ACTION facility in the tech desc manual is worth reading to understand this functioning.

I assuming your question is about economic analysis of CO2 Flooding.
My answer would be, you must see any DOE/Fossil.gov reports. They has published many CO2 flood successful projects in the US. Also search Onepetro.org ; multi society library.
For example SPE-22022-PA "An Approach To Optimize Economics in a West Texas CO2 Flood"

Hi Bilal,
I appreciate that you have taken time to tell me some very important key steps for using Eclipse, I also wanted to know if I want to run my simulation only by natural reservoir pressure, that is I have 10 oil production wells, one gas injection and 08 water injection wells. I only have to run the simulation without water or gas injection. I think, in the Schedule section, if I use the option:
injection well control (I) ----------------- open/shut flag as SHUT
injection well control (GI) --------------- open/shut flag as SHUT
If I use these options, I think I should be able to run my simulation without water or gas injection, or should I make some changes in the well completion data for water and as too.

Azeem, thanks for the compliments. You don't need to change COMPDAT until and unless WCONINJ is meeting your requirements to inject in specified grid layers.
However, using ACTION facility enables you that if Natural production of your 10 oil wells falls below some specified limit (either FOPR or WOPR, FPR, WBHP) your specified or all injection wells automatically start injecting.
Thanks Bilal,
The info you are providing is really helping me a lot. I hope I can ask you more questions, if I get stuck in future, if the question is very detailed oriented, pls do let me know, as I really appreciate your time taken to answer these tedious. question

Hi Bilal,
I just have one more question and it is related to the economic analysis for the CO2 EOR, I have all the values from my results, but I am just finding it difficult to do an economic analysis. I got all the values for the operation and maintenance costs involved from the research papers and I also have the incremental oil produced from my simulation, which is 1.22 million tonnes oil from EOR alone, this turns out generate a revenue of $104,365,620 when I assume a price of 485/tonne of oil.
I just need to make an economic model now, I do have to prove that these O&M costs will not exceed the revenue generated from the CO2 EOR.
I will be highly obliged if you have a dummy model, may be in excel, through which I can get an understanding of this.

Hi Bilal,
I wanted to ask the theory behind controlling the THP and BHP for increasing the oil production from a reservoir, in the schedule section, why is THP and BHP important
Azeem
Australian Maritime college
THP and BHP constraints are used to control drawdown of your reservoir.
BHP control corresponds where operator has installed Sub-surface control valves, otherwise WHP is used as control mode.

Hi Bilal
Thanks for your reply, I will be highly obliged if you can just eloborate on THP and BHP as I donot have very good understanding of this subject matter, I am writing my thesis and I just need to explain the concept of controlling this parameter, as I found that by controlling this parameter, I can increase the oil recovery
