A number of parameters could be changing over time, namely the inlet gas void fraction could be increasing thus causing lower pump efficiency, the oil properties are perhaps changing (oil viscosity going up), watercut may be also going up, pressure boosting may be changing as well. Every aspect of the ESP operating, inlet and outlet conditions and fluid properties need to be evaluated.
