Useful Practical Guide for Pipelaying (Mainlaying)?

Dear ALL,

I am now working as a technical apprentice in a waterworks contractor, mainly assisting for supervising workfronts and monitoring overall progress for replacement works of old pipes of government's maintenance contract.

I mostly use PE or DI Pipes (sizing around 50-200 for footpath).

I wish can anyone sugggest some PRACTICAL guide(s), which including all sorts of pipes e.g. PE/DI/Mild Steel/U-PVC/AC pipes for (i) their features (ii). installation. As i always mess up with fittings e.g. spitgot/socket/adaptor/flange etc because for every material of pipe they are their own connection details.
