I'd want to write a winterizing standard, collecting any available information, starting from zero, not using a standard from the well known engineering firms unless this is completely analyzed and possibly tested against real situations, to understand hypothesis, limits, pros and cons. (Our plants must withstand up to -50°C, is not a joke).
So the purpose is to create a global standard that contains both theoretical and practical information; in some way it will be a Wikipedia of winterization.
I do not have any supervisor, at the opposite I think that a general specification must be issued by the VP of the engineering division. Unfortunately during my over twenty years of experience I found that a lot of engineers use tons of specifications and data without a complete understanding of them, simply hey afford in them because "... is issued by ..." Exxon or Shell or other big firm, but what are the hypothesis, or limits or basic data? In many cases the specification was issued forty or fifty years in the past and only minor changes was taken.
