    Unhappy HVAC to reservoir engineering

    Hi Guys,
I am so happy that I found this forum only by chance.

I graduated in Mecheng at 2003, I was working as mechanical Estimator for 5 years and also at the same time I was involved in HVAC design engineering as well for only 2 years.Since about 2 years ago till now t I have been working as Site Supervisor in building Mechanical Services field (HVAC) in Australia Sydney.

Since many years ago I was interested in reservoir engineering but I didn't know how to shift to that field. I have NO idea about it to be honest . generally I know , that would be a blend of fluid mechanic, geology and thermodynamic . I was perfect in thermodynamic and fluid mechanics during university years but we never studied Geology .
Now I am thinking to take a course to get a Master degree in Reservoir Engineering. In Australia, UNSW is offering a Postgraduate program in Petroleum Engineering but you need 1 year experience in industry and I don't have it. Also I couldn't find any thing specifically designed as reservoir eng program for Master degree here in AUS universities
I talked to one of my friends who has been working in this field for a long time and he suggested me to find a job first. He told me some companies such as Schlumberger or Haliburton may give me a position -Although I don't think so- then after 1 year experience I can apply for Master degree.
I only want to work in Australia and also I would like to know about life style of a reservoir engineer , how long I would be away from my family and ....
I really appreciate it if you would advise me what is your idea about my dream.I want to make it clear for myself that is it possible to find a job in this field without experience or not . and Also I need to analyse my character to see if I can accept this new life style. In fact I want to make a realistic decision. When you google this subject you can find a lot of clips on youtube showing a happy life for drillers, field engineers and .... but how much it is true.I don't know

    Thanks for your help
