[h=Design]1[/h] Black Oil and Gas Condensate Systems Design Considerations:
Steady State Design:
- Hydraulics
- Line Sizing
- Pressure Drop
- Max./Min. Velocity
- Flow Regime Prediction
- Slugging (Hydrodynamic and Severe Slugging)
- Pots equation for Severe Slugging (or Terrain Slugging)
- Mean Slug Length and Probabilistic Model for
- Slug Length (Hill & Wood Method)
- Maximum Slug Length = 6 times the mean slug length
- Slug Frequency (Hill & Wood Method)
- Pigging slugs
- A quasi-transient model of Baker – McDonald
- Thermal
- Insulation Requirements:
- Hydrate Formation
- Wax Deposition
- Insulation Types
- Pipe-in-Pipe
- Wet Insulation
- Flexible Pipe
- Insulation Requirements:
Transient Design:
- Shut Down
- Planned
- Unplanned
- Extended
- Depressurisation
- Blow Down
- Turn Down – Ramp up (For Gas Condensate Systems)
- Start-up
- Cold Start-up
- Warm Start-up
- Interrupted Start-up
- Fluid Displacement – Pigging
Equipment Design:
In general, the size of slugcatching equipment for gas-condensate pipelines will be governed by pigging considerations. For oil dominated systems, the size of the slug catcher is usually governed by maximum slug length due to either hydrodynamic or terrain slugs.
