can anyone explain the difference between sheet/plate and pipe/tube. i'v gone through several materials, but didn't get a satisfactory answer....

Pipe is only for mass transfer.
Tube is for heat and mass transfer e.g. boiler tube.
Sheet: Thickness upto 3mm or less then 3mm
Plate: Beyond 3 mm thk. is refd. as plate.
