Advise on PTW

I am currently reviewing my organization PTW Process* and I am recommending to move away from the various number of permits (cold* spark potential* naked flame* etc) and have one standard permit and supplemental certificates. The only benefit I see from the various permits are for easy of identification of type of work and the permit hinting you in various mitigation measures for the various works. however* since the permits are more or less standard in terms of content* I do not see it being an issue. Anyone with any different views? This system is used offshore btw.

Though in general the PTW system looks same* the purpose to achieve is same but the precautions to be taken are different.
Every Permit should have a checklist unique in nature and it should have the check list to ensure safe guards* prior actions to be taken in terms of the hazards and the Risk related to the type of activity.
