Ask: replacing sucker rod in oil well using crane

Dear everybody

I am working in HSE Department for upstream oil & gas company. At my workplace the DWO department has an idea of using crane for replacing sucker rod in oil well and they ask us to give advice for this matter. I have no experience nor the knowledge for this kind of activity. Is there any reference or anyone has an experience for doing this safely?

It can be done but not a good engineering practice.
Weight control problems.
Well control problems.
Cannot fish for parted rods.
