Hi Friends,
Can anyone point me to a Gas Industry or other Code that covers use of conduits or sleeves to protect plastic ( PE ) LPG Vapour lines that have to cross public roadways ?
I am presently using PVC pipe as sleeve, at least one nominal size larger than the PE gas carrier pipe and installed prior to the roadway being sealed with asphalt ( in new housing sub divisions/estates ). PE pipe sizes range from 20 mm NB to 150 mm NB, all SDR 11 pipe.
Design operating pressure for the PE pipe is over 200 kPa(g) / 3 Bar (a) but running at 120 kPa typically.
Questions have arisen as to the need and legality of installing sleeves. I am doing that to make carrier pipe installation and perhaps removal later easier and to add a layer of protection. Common trench with other services ( power, water, telcoms ) is the usual situation.
I add warning tape and tracer wire as per standard practices for PE pipe.
Any comments most welcome...........
