Hi all,

A client asked about abrasive perforating. There is a potential to introduce abrasive perforating on coiled tubing into a steam flood field, but the sand is quite weak or unconsolidated.

My concern is that the sand will wash away and the well will has unsupported casing rather than discrete perforations (I believe that it will create cavities behind the pipe).

Unfortunately at this point I cannot disclose the well/field information as per client request.

If any of you have the experience dealing with a similar case, or know any case studies/technical papers pertaining to the abrasive perforating in unconsolidated sands, I would really appreciate if you can share it with me.
