Thank you for clearing that up for me. I'm in search of a STD or RP that I can base an acceptance criteria on for illumination levels on a land rig. I'm thinking I should look into CIE. Thank you again.
Maybe some ideas in:

Would you by any chance have following?
API RP 54(R2013)
API RP 74 (R2013)
NECA 502-2006
54 and 74, these are the same as reaffirmed 2013
changed the first pages on the 54 to R2013 from the tech-street preview
In API RP 54 it references ANSI/IES-RP-7: Industrial Lighting- which was withdrawn. Is that because they are both Recommended Practices? IF ANSI/IES-RP-7 is no longer recognized but API RP 54 is, can i still use ANSI/IES-RP-7 as a Recommended Practice?? I'm a little confused on this situation.![]()
From the forward of the 54 doc.
"It is intended that this voluntary recommended practice will promote and maintain safe working conditions for personnel engaged in well drilling and servicing operations, including special services as they relate to the operation of drilling and well servicing rigs"
Also...
"Recommendations set forth in this publication are viewed as one satisfactory method for accomplishing a desired result. They should not be considered as the only method for achieving the desired results. This publication includes usage of the verbs “shall” and “should,” whichever is deemed most applicable for the specific situation. For the purposes of this publication, the following definitions are applicable:
Shall: Denotes that the recommended practice has universal application to that specific activity.
Should: Denotes a recommended practice: (1) where a safe comparable alternative practice is available; (2) that may be impractical under certain circumstances; or (3) that may be unnecessary for personnel safety under certain circumstances."
