    MSS SP-87 Anyone?

    Hi all,

Does anyone have MSS SP-87-2011 Factory-Made Butt-Welding Fittings for Class I Nuclear Piping Applications? I have searched far and wide but cannot seem to find a spare copy anywhere. Even an older version would do, but I prefer the newest if possible.

    Thanks

    Re: MSS SP-87 Anyone?

Thank you Selmagis, Marty Thompson, and Rezaeima. Since receiving your files I have compared MSS SP-87 to SP-43, SP-75, and ASME B16.9 in regards to fitting dimensions only. The only differences among the four are as follows:

    1. Limitations on cap wall thickness for determination of overall end-to-end dimension. MSS SP-87 gives almost identical values as ASME B16.9 except to an extra sigfig. Interestingly, ASME B16.9 (2012) has a different end-to-end dimension for NPS 1/2, but I believe that to be a typo even though an errata has not been issued on its behalf.

    2. Center-to-End for NPS 3/4 on long radius elbow tables. MSS SP-87 is the only one stating a different dimension here, but a footnote gives option to use the dimension given on the other specifications. I consider it likely this oddball size will be dropped in future revisions.

If MSS SP-87 has changed anything, from its Reaffirmed 1996 to Reinstated 2011 editions, I would expect the fourth paragraph of page one not to mention conflict resolution with ASME B.16.28 (it was retired in 2002).

Thanks again, you have been tremendously helpful.
