Thread: simulate a crude desalter and dehydrator electrostatic in Hysys

  1. simulate a crude desalter and dehydrator electrostatic in Hysys

    hello sirs
you know how to simulate a crude desalter and dehydrator electrostatic in Hysys, just as a stream of brine B & SW
    thank you !!

    Hi @proceso1965

for Simulation of Desalter equipment, you couldn't use HYSYS software. only use prepare a specification include feed charactristic & your desired product specification. aalso DEmulsifier type can be advise by Desalter Vendor. also required Dilution water will be specified by Vendor (generally you need dilution water equal 5% of Crude oil).

Petreco (Cameron) and Natco are desalter manufacturers with, I believe, more than 90% of this type of equipment installed in refineries worldwide:

For demuslifier selection, proper laboratory testing of various chemicals is required in order to select the best one for a given type of crude oil. There's no universal demulsifier (for paraffinic, naphthenic or aromatic crude), and full optimization of process parameters affecting desalter operation - washwater rate, desalter temperature, pressure drop across the mixing valve or static mixer - is mandatory. Nalco, Chimec, and GE Betz are the most famous chemical vendors.

    Regards
