Thread: ASPEN + Windows 7 Compatibility Problem

  1. ASPEN + Windows 7 Compatibility Problem

    Hi,

I tried to install the last ASPEN suite version 7.1 on Windows 7 64bit but I had compatibility difficulties which didn't allow me to install it. I basically need only ASPEN PLUS and HYSYS.... Does anyone know anything that might be useful overcoming this problem? Any p*a*t*c*h or any information? I might say that the problem is with Windows 7 and not with the 64bit system.

    Thank you in advance.

  5. I doubt that 7.1 is compatible with win 7... For example 2006.5 was launched to fix the compatability issues for vista and 7.1 was launched before win 7.. and its microsoft... dont expect too much.

  6. are you sure it is because of 7 and not because of your 64 bits OS?

  9. Hi again,
well I tried to install Virtual PC on a Windows XP mode (as kermitel suggested... thanx how could I not think of that....) but it keeps asking me about a "Virtualization" configuration that I should make on the BIOS which seems not to exist on the specific kind of BIOS of my Laptop (stupid program of microsoft, although for a second I was about to congratulate the company; again went something wrong). I didn't tried though VMware Workstation yet because I didn't had the time. When I will try it, I will post again.

Note: Something strange happened thought.... While on Windows 7 64bit, although I have selected to install from the entire suite (v.7.1) only ASPEN Plus and HYSYS and I got errors in both installation..... Aspen Plus user interface seems to have been installed and running... To be clear the first compatibility error I had, started from the beginning of the installation when the Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package was being installed and also after each installation of the two.
    Thanks again

  10. well, I just installed Windows 7 this weekend and one of the first things I tested was ASPEN and HYSYS since I use them constantly at my university. The result: they both work with no problem. I only got a "known compatibility issues" warning at the beginning of SQL installation but I just clicked "allow install" and everything has been working correctly.

btw, I'm running a 32bits OS, maybe the problem does have to be with 64bits architecture.

  11. You might be right about the cause of the problem. It might be the 64bits. The thing is that ASPEN ONE Suite version 7.1 has several compatibility problems with Windows 7 64bits version. For sure HYSYS could not be installed. Well, has anyone else tried to install it on any 64bit operating system?

  12. Dear Bigbrother,

Do you have aspen web seminars and documentation. If you have, can u please
