We are pleased to announce that MATPOWER 5.0 is now available for free download from the MATPOWER web site ...

MATPOWER is a free, open-source software package for power system analysis, aimed primarily at solving power flow and optimal power flow problems.
Highlights of version 5 include:
- Continuation power flow.
- Applications of semi-definite programming relaxations to power flow equations.
- PSS/E raw data import.
- Utility routines to check network connectivity and handle islands and isolated buses.
- New extensible options architecture.
- New extension implementing DC OPF branch flow soft limits.
- New and updated support for 3rd party solvers (CPLEX, GLPK, Gurobi, Ipopt, Knitro).
- Performance enhancements.
- Bug fixes.
- Improved automated test coverage.
