    Gas groups in hazardous area classification

    Dear Professionals,

    I need to know the, how to identfy the gas groups for making hazarsdous area classification.

    Can you give me a example for identiying gas groups
    In mixtue of compounds in a vessel, how much volume we have to consider for release of flammable material

    Please advise us, confusing about this matter

    Exclamation Basics of Explosion Protection

    Classification of Zones
    Hazardous areas are classified into Zones, depending on the
    composition and presence of an explosive atmosphere. This
    enables both selection of suitable equipment and appropriate
    electrical installation.
    Classification of zones and use of equipment
    Zone 0 Equipment with certificate of conformity or type test
    certificate; especially approved for Zone 0.
    Zone 1 Equipment with certificate of conformity or type test
    certificate.
    Zone 2 Equipment complying with the basic requirements of
    Directive 94/9/EC (Equipment certified for Zone 0 and
    Zone 1 can also be used).
    Gases, Dusts Definition (94/9/EG)
    vapours, explosive
    mists atmosphere
    is present
    Zone 0 R Zone 20 R permanent,
    category 1 G category 1 D long-term
    Zone 1 R Zone 21 R occasional
    category 2 G category 2 D
    Zone 2 R Zone 22 R seldom or
    category 3 G category 3 D short-period
    G = gases, D = dusts

    You may refer API 500 for international standards.

    If you are in India , OISD 113 and ISO 5572/5571 may be referred

    These standards are use for Hazardous area clasification. Ignition temp is basis for zones.

    ignition temp can be lab data or obtd from table in above standards
