ASPEN Hysys 7.1 installation

hello everyone,

I am trying to install hysys 7.1 on my windows 7 64 bit OS. But it is showing errors, is it the right windows configuration? or should I install any other OS? for e.g. windows xp 32 bit. is it possible to install 32 bit in 64 bit system?

I need help, please give your suggestion(s).

you search topic for aspen hysys, in multiple threads, many people have described the solution of this problem. I request you to search first than posting any question.

Regarding to your problem,
in windows 7, 64bit OS. You need to install sql express 2008 instead of 2005 and then you need to turn on some feature of windows. You can access it by going in to control panel, then program & features and then on the left hand pane you find turn windows features on or off.
Click it , place check on microsoft.net framework 3.5.1 or 4.0 or 4.5 which ever you see.
now install the hysys and comment.

hi,

I did as you said, installed sql 2008 server, checked the .net framework 3.5.1 and still it is showing errors (see pic).

Also, after installing sql 2008 a dialogue box opens up. do i have to run it again for some other installation? ( i hope you are understanding me)

Please give me your opinion, how to install it. I am facing difficulty to complete my project.

and can you tell me what are the prerequisite for installing aspen 7.1 on windows 7 64 bit?
e.g 1) .net framework 3.5
2) SQL server 2008

amit,

the procedure is quite simple, everyone share their problem and members try to sort things those who have faced the same.

the error shows SLM tool is not installing properly. That is new to me, i never faced it installed hysys earlier versions to v8.6. I haven't encountered it during more then 100 times installation.
however, i am gonna write to you simple steps i follow and get successful installation. (for windows 7 & 8 only)
1) for windows 7, you need to login from administrator account for installation. Administrator account is builtin hidden in windows 7. You can open it by right click on my computer, click manage. In poped up window, click on local user and groups in left hand pane. You will see administrator account on right hand side. Click right, open properties and uncheck account is disable. click ok and restart and logon by administrator account.
2) Trun windows feature on, check dotnet framework box for HTTP & non HTTP activation both.
3) Install sql server 2008 express or sql server 2008 R2 (one of them surely work on different configuration). Do place check on windows authentication with sql server & later add sql server to administrator also.
4) generate license ( delete the older one)
5) check weather all previous installation is undone, remove aspentack folder from program files and hyprotech folder from common files.
6) Start install, by providing license file destination. Click only those modules you required for your work.
7)You will be needing to provide the user account infor during installation in sql checking by aspentech software, use you administrator account name (your computer name) and provide any password, setup won't proceed unless you sort this out
8)after successful completion of installation (hope you won't get any error now). before restarting the computer you hold software restart screen for a whiole, place the c_r_*_*_k licen_ce in their provided positions and .dll files in respective place. Now You restart it by clicking that window.
9) now login by administrator again and check by running the software. if it works you again disable the administrator account and login by your account.

Hope it works now.

I performed all the steps from 1 through 6 and it was going all fine untill i reached step 7) and the warning you said is constantly appearing. I have given the exact username viz. "administrator" and the password "same as while logging into the administrator account" and domain as my pc name. and still it gives the " invalid username/password" notification.
can you please explain in detail how to sort out this problem?
also i forgot to add my administrator account while installing the sql server 2008 r2. is the problem related to this only? although I selected
"windows authentication mode".

please help me out.

HI amit,

for proper installation of sql server, refer to below link

If you don't properly provide or get the username as shown in the given link, it won't install. Don't worry about the password, you can place anything as windows administrator default password is blank. I normally use 12345 for installation

i hope it also work for you.

you need to place mixed mood authentication during installation of sql server and then add to sql server to administrator account. You can take snapshots of error and post for better understanding.
