Dear Brothers
Today I look thru myASNT, The exams (UT/VI)- have been passed.
So, I think the study note work well.
Again on the examination strategy:
On the UT exam:
All the UT equations on wave velocity, beam spread, near/far field were given in the equation booklets. (the trigonometry of sound beam during scanning is not given)
The 1st 15 questions is based on a booklet "UT procedure" provided during the exam. The procedure is quite lengthy and full of acceptance criteria, equipment calibrations and so forth.
What my colleagues had advised is that skip this 15 question and works on the others. However I'd challenged myself by doing these 15 questions right from start. Steps:
- dont panic, as long you understand English, anybody could answer all the questions after all it is OPEN BOOK questions!
- briefly (again briefly) glance through the booklet
- answer the questions one by one, be careful on the thickness range; example 2" is not >2" be sure you used the correct range (mostly acceptance or rejection based on Level of quality requirements)
The 15 question took me 1 hours!
The rest took me another 2 1/2 hour.
It took me another 25 minutes to fill-up the ABCD computer score sheet.
My mistake: answer the question and fill-up the answer sheet immediate- darkening each answer leave some 5 seconds rest time for the brain. It is bad to fill-up when everything are finished and you may not have time to fill-up.
Very important note: I felt some difficulties in (1) immersion testing / (2) composite UT testing questions. My self study notes did not cover sufficient on the aforementioned subjects. Please read more on the subjects!
Best of lucks to all.
Charlie
