Quickly estimate air cooled heat exchanger power consumption

Hi! I'd like to share with you a quick method to estimate air cooled heat exchanger (ACHE) power consumption based on its cooling duty:

    ACHE Power = 0,05 * ACHE Duty

(e.g.: if an ACHE has a cooling duty of 300 kW, its fans will have a power consumption of 15 kW, roughly).

It's based on many designs of ACHEs, for very different services (gas cooling, liquid cooling, condensing, etc. etc. etc.), with different site conditions. In fact the coefficient (0,05) may be as low as 0,015 or 0,03 in some cases. This method is good for a ball park estimate only.

    Best regards
